Wireless PROFINET – In practice
As a rule, sensor and application data from machines in the field level are transmitted to a control system for use. If this has to be done wirelessly in view of moving parts – e.g. in sewage treatment plants or with cranes – radio connections are used which are aligned with the field bus used in each case: The modules of the DATAEAGLE 4000 series “speak and understand” PROFINET with or without PROFIsafe support. The patented data pre-processing integrated in the module, including a filter function, achieves a particularly high level of system availability.
Wireless solutions from Schildknecht can be replaced 1:1 with existing cables – without any changes to the machine. The exchange can be carried out quickly and easily by a company electrician, extensive adjustments or new certifications are not necessary. With DATAEAGLE, no integration of data transmission into the hardware configuration is necessary. The device description files GSD (PROFIBUS) or GSDML (PROFINET) do not have to be changed and the “cable” configuration can be retained. You still encounter questions during installation? The DATAEAGLE 4000 series was developed especially for the transparent transmission of PROFINET IO by utilization of diverse radio technologies.

The range depends on the radio technology used and the conditions of the surroundings.
Typical parameters include a range of 100m ? 300m (47xx) or 1km ? 3km (431x).
